12:29 AM, SATURDAY, MAY 20, 2006

It was today, 5 years ago that I landed in SFO International Airport, crossing immigration and getting my first U.S. I94.

I was put up in a furnished temporary house in Sunnyvale (Wolfe Rd. to be precise). I still remember, not understanding the value of the dollar, going to the nearby Safeway and wondering how cheap everything was; and this time I went and blew away a couple hundred dollars on some stupid Audio system.

Much has changed since then - too many to list here, at least. But, many life changing decisions later, I'm happy and thankful, I got the opportunity and decided to take this leap.

Remember that funky song from Honda Civic Si commercial?

The song in the commercial was sung by this Sri Lankan girl M.I.A.. Here's the video for the song and look carefully, there're some Tamil words shown in the video.

Gaming News

Two exciting pieces of news trickled in today. Neither of them a surprise, but the excitement has been building for quite some time now.

Rise of Legends

This game is out today! Made by the same people who created Rise of Nations, this game promises to be my next time-sink after Age of Empires III. I played the demo, which is available here (720MB, though) and it is much easier and more engaging than similar strategy games. However the graphics in this game are very demanding and I might have to upgrade my computer just for this. I'll be getting hold of a copy as soon as it's available in our Microsoft Store.

Halo 3

The next game is Halo 3 for XBox 360. This game was announced today at E3 and will be available in 2007 (when in 2007, I don't know). They released a trailer (I'd call it a teaser, rather) which is available here. The video in the trailer is real-time generated on the current XBox 360 hardware and it looks sweeeeet!!!

As if there are not enough games already, there're two more now, competing for my time!

Do correct spellings matter?

Remember that email that said correct spellings don't matter, as long as the first and last letters are fine? Well, here's a real research that debunks that as a hoax.
