Testing Google Ads
5:11 PM, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2006

I'm working on some side projects and wanted to test Google Ads for use in them. I've added some Google Ad blocks to this website to start my account. I don't really want to advertise on my personal site. So, I've made them as inconspicuous as possible and will move them out of here very soon. Please bear with it until then. Thanks.

What's up folks?
12:23 AM, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2006

Except for a couple of people, all others I link to from my website have stopped updating their blogs. What's up with that?

Also, if you're reading this and you have a blog that I haven't linked, please let me know. I'll be happy to add a link.

First Impressions
1:59 PM, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2006

A co-worker brought his brand new PS3 to work and a bunch of us performed the unpacking ritual together in his office.

The PS3 is actually smaller than I was expecting and has a shiny gloss finish. Looks-wise, it's ugly - comparable to the first-gen Xbox. The controller was surprisingly light, for something that comes with a built-in battery.

We connected it to a Dell 24" widescreen monitor that supports HDMI and holding our breath, powered it on... we waited... and we waited. Nothing came up and so we connected the composite input and in low-res mode, tried fiddling with the settings... but we didn't have any luck bringing Hi-def to life.

Anyways, the OS seems so last-gen and in sharp contrast with the XBox 360, doesn't utilize images/icons much. Heck, it doesn't even do overlays - message boxes come full screen with no Alpha-blending. Also, we found that the Network connectivity settings are far from intuitive - this coming from a bunch of geeks; imagine the fate of non-geeks getting hold of this console.

I'm in no hurry to go buy this console. But Wii?? It's another story.

Rainy days are here
11:28 PM, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 08, 2006

When I left India, monsoon had started and rain poured down non-stop, thanks to the two cyclones. Then I reached Seattle, only to be welcome by pouring rain again!

Check out the forecast for the next 10 days... Not at all encouraging.
